Your time investment represents what’s most important to you.

So many people, including myself, repeatedly say we have absolutely no time to accomplish certain things when the truth is we invest our time in what’s most important to us. Whether it be our family, our friends, our health, our career, movies, TV shows, or our hobbies. Our time is our choice.

Do you choose to eat fast food instead of going to the gym? Do you spend countless hours a week binge-watching your favorite TV shows instead of planning your next career move? Do you love your hobbies more than you love playing with your kids? Do you call your friends a lot more than you call your parents? Time will tell — in a sense that if you were to be able to track your time for the past few years, you’d be able to see where most of your time goes. …

Do you. This is what I tend to remind myself of. Comparing one's career to another can easily be misleading; it makes no sense. You would really have to know the other person to make some sort of accurate comparison. Everyone has their own path. Everyone has different experiences. Everyone defines success differently. Your definition of success can and will probably change over time. Life — at the end of the day — is unpredictable and sometimes out of your hands. More importantly: perspective.
